Katherine! The tales are true, if there was a wit to match mine, tis' hers!
But I am getting ahead of myself. I arrived at Baptista's home early this afternoon. I told him all my money would pass to Kate if I died young (for Kate is what she would be called). When asked what I would do with her anger, I said that my wit was to match hers, and that, "where two raging fires meet together; they do consume the thing that feeds their fury." And I went on, sounding very poetic. Of course, this is not true, humans are not at all like fires, and when to angry people meet, they add to each others fury. But Baptista is dull, he noticed it not.
Then Kate entered the room, and we were left alone.
I started off with kind word, and quickly found she was not to be swooned. She began to insult me, but I would not be walked over. I countered her insults, but it was hard, for she was every bit as quick and sharp of wit as I
.
When Baptista came back, I lied and said we got together fine when we were alone. Kate did not like this one bit, but still, we are scheduled to be married on Sunday!
I have got my rich wife! One half of Baptistas’ land, and twenty-million dollars will come to me once the old man dies.
Though it is hard to admit, jousting with Kate was great fun. I have never had such a challenge in my whole life. Perhaps, if I can get over the fact that she is a witch, this could be fun?
A troubled but ecstatic,

I arrived in Pauda late yesterday, and settled in to my new home here. It is a beautiful place, but money is ever on my mind. My very blessing seems to be my curse!
This morning, I took my favorite (yet most dull
)
. After I gave Grumio a good beating, Hortensio finally arrived at the door.
After a brief exchange, he said he would take me to a rich man called Baptista, whose elder daughter would be married to anyone who wanted her. How perfect for me
